Ken Lewis Welcomes you to AudioSchoolOnline.com

Posted on November 16th, 2011

Hello everyone and welcome! I've had the idea for this school for over 5 years, and I've been actively building this site for a year and a half now. Its been QUITE and undertaking to say the least, and I've had to attempt to balance my very busy record making schedule against building my school. I'm finally launched, and you can expect about 1 new video a week to hit the site. So at that rate i should have 5 or 6 dozen lessons posted by this time next year, very exciting. To that end, I want to teach you what YOU want to learn, so feel free to drop me a suggestion in the "Suggest a Topic" link at the top right of the main page. Or give me any other feedback you think might help me make this site as good as i can possibly make it. Thanks for checking out my school and i hope you find some valuable information within. Sincerely, Ken Lewis

Hi Ken thanks for your wonderful competition … It`s supposed to be a MIXING competition right ? how many dB of headroom should we leave(it`s not stated there) ??

And why is the INDABA site proposing mastering facilities when this contest is about MIXING ??

    My best regards
    Arvin

Hi Ken, just wanted to drop by and say thanks for all your tips at the FunkVolume Hiphop Conference. Especially when you talked about recording school, I was seriously going to drop 15 grand on a school thinking I’d be an instant engineer, lol. Thanks for being real about that. I’ll be buying your vids soon enough, by any chance, do you offer a monthly membership type deal with access to all the vids? If not, that would be really cool, thanks again, peace!

I like what your doing, however I’d like to see tutorial videos on just the basics. From installing software to finding your interface and setting up tracks from scratch. Like a step by step process of opening Pro Tools 9, to setting the ‘Gain’ knobs on my interface, then setting up 8 tracks in Pro Tools 9 and getting the tracks to record at the same time. I can use Garagband somewhat and have learned how to use loops, but making my own recording has been a challenge to say the least, so much I haven’t even tried for the last 4 months. I decided to wait until I can get help, that way when I feel inspired or simply want to record myself playing drums so I can mess with all the different plug-ins to learn how to change each track with all the different settings there are to get each traks sound to be decent and eventually really good. I’ll worry about guitar and vocals later.Any help would be greatly appreciated,Thanks!

      @ Lee Hazelwood:

There are thousands of videos on the basics for free on Youtube and elsewhere on the internet.  Not to mention that a lot of the things you are asking about are right in the Pro Tools manual or rudimentary things.  Please don't bog a master Pro like Ken down with these sorts of requests because you want to be spoon fed, take some initiative yourself.  It really isn't that hard to get started if you try.
